Legend Fitness says harsh chemicals such as bleach or alcohol can void your warranty and damage powder coating and upholstery. Precor warns that bleach and corrosive cleaners weaken the powder coat on frames and damage consoles and screens. TRUE Fitness says never to use glass cleaners, ammonia or alcohol on plexiglass weight stack guards. GymSoap is safe on vinyl, rubber, plastic, powder-coated metal, leather and screens. For specialty finishes, follow your equipment maker's care guidance.

It is not EPA-registered and makes no claim to kill anything. That is a real regulatory line: the EPA treats cleaning as removing dirt and organic matter from surfaces using soap or detergents, and registers products that sanitize or disinfect as antimicrobial pesticides.
